August 8, 2025Miami, FL, August 5, 2025 — Associated Builders and Contractors Florida East Coast Chapter (ABC-FEC) and its education affiliate, ABC Institute Apprenticeship College (ABCI), announced today the successful closing on a 23,000-square-foot facility in Hialeah, marking a major milestone in the organization’s mission to expand and elevate apprenticeship education in Florida.
Representing an investment of just under $7 million, the new Miami campus will serve as one of the largest hubs of apprenticeship training in the state, providing cutting-edge classrooms, hands-on learning labs, and industry-driven programs designed to meet the region’s growing demand for skilled construction professionals.
“This is more than a real estate purchase, it’s a bold investment in Florida’s future workforce,” said Peter Dyga, President & CEO of ABC-FEC. “This facility will allow us to scale our training capacity, partner with more contractors, and create life-changing opportunities for thousands of apprentices.”
Located in the heart of Miami-Dade County, the new facility is strategically positioned to serve both the local community and the broader South Florida construction market. ABCI, which has been training apprentices for 50 years, currently offers state-registered programs in seven trades, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, pipe fitting, line erector, roofing and fire sprinkler.
“This flagship campus represents the next chapter in our growth,” said Sonny Maken, Chief Operating Officer of ABC-FEC and ABC Institute. “With this building, we’re not just teaching trades, we are building careers, empowering communities, and ensuring that Florida’s construction industry has the skilled workforce it needs to thrive.”
The purchase of the Miami property underscores ABC-FEC’s commitment to expanding workforce development across its 11 campuses in Florida. Renovations and buildout of the facility are expected to begin later this year, with training programs slated to launch in 2026.
