Devante Wilson, from ABCI alumnus oto mentor of the new generations
Devante Wilson chose ABC Institute because it focused on what mattered most to him: “real-world skills, not just theory.” He was inspired by instructors who had firsthand experience in the trade and understood that students were there “to build a career, not just pass a test.”
Today, Wilson has returned to ABC Institute as an instructor, bringing his field experience back into the classroom. He enjoys helping students understand “the ‘why,’ not just the ‘how,’” and works to prepare them for success beyond the exam. His teaching is grounded in real jobsite examples and practical applications that connect classroom learning to everyday work in the field.
Remembering his own time as a student helps him relate to those just starting out. “Confidence comes with repetition and experience, not perfection on day one,” Wilson reminds his classes. Seeing former students grow and succeed in the trade is what makes teaching most rewarding for him.
It is important to note thatMr. WIlson earned an AA from Broward College and was able to transfer 27 credit hours being an ABCI graduate apprentice.
As both an alumnus and instructor, Wilson is proud to give back to the school that helped launch his career by helping the next generation of electricians build confidence, skills, and a strong future.
