June 11, 2025Sometimes the most effective ideas start small. What began as a communications experiment has grown into one of ABC Florida East Coast’s most promising platforms: The Obvious Podcast. With 40 episodes under its belt, the podcast now boasts nearly 5,000 YouTube views and close to 77,000 recommendations by YouTube’s algorithm, which have translated into 1,709 direct clicks.
Hosted by Peter Dyga and Sonny Maken, The Obvious Podcast delivers clear, concise insight on the week’s most pressing issues. From regulatory shifts to political noise, without the clutter.
Some episodes have struck a real chord. On YouTube, the clear audience favorites are “Did I Really Tweet That?” (Episode 33) and “The Power of Meritocracy in Construction” (Episode 26), both showing strong engagement and replay value. Meanwhile, audio listenership is accelerating, with 72% of our nearly 1,000 downloads happening in just the last 90 days. Top performers on podcast platforms are “Gen Z Finds the Right” (Episode 34) and “Peter’s 25th Anniversary” (Episode 16). Apple Podcasts leads the way.
This once “pet project” is now a full-fledged platform for advocacy, influence, and connection within the construction industry. And it’s only gaining steam.
