Coconut Creek, FL – Last week, Associated Builders and Contractors Florida East Coast (ABC-FEC) and its education affiliate, ABC Institute (ABCI), welcomed United States Deputy Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling for a tour of the Institute’s training facilities and a roundtable discussion with board members, ABC-FEC executives, instructors and alumni.
During the visit, the Deputy Secretary observed demonstrations of ABCI’s hands-on apprenticeship training, including its proprietary virtual reality program, ABC Labs, used to simulate real-world construction environments.
“This visit underscores the national importance of apprenticeship training in today’s workforce,” said Peter Dyga, President & CEO of ABC-FEC. “Our mission is to develop skilled, safety-focused professionals who strengthen Florida’s construction industry and fuel economic growth.”
ABC Institute is Florida’s largest provider of apprenticeship programs. With more than 50 years of experience, ABCI currently offers programs in seven trades across 13 campuses. ABCI invests in excess of $3.5 million annually in construction education and training, equipping students with the skills and certifications needed for lifelong careers in construction.
