From Uncertainty to Student of the Year

Dominique Gosha, from the electrical program, was named the recipient of the 2026 Ron Pearson Student of the Year Award during ABCI’s annual graduation ceremony at the Charles F. Dodge City Center in Pembroke Pines. The prestigious award recognizes the apprentice who best exemplifies academic excellence, personal growth, and commitment to the skilled trades.

In his award-winning essay, Gosha reflects on arriving at ABCI uncertain about his future before discovering purpose through hands-on education and mentorship. He credits the program and its instructors with transforming his confidence, work ethic, and technical skills, while preparing him for a meaningful career in the electrical trade. Rather than simply teaching him a profession, Gosha writes that ABCI gave him “an identity and a future.”
