CEO Peter Dyga in the South Florida Sun Sentinel
In a recent Letter to the Editor published on September 8 in the South Florida Sun Sentinel, ABC FEC President and CEO Peter Dyga called for a workforce development strategy that invests in skills, not simply job creation. He pointed to construction’s shortage of 439,000 craft professionals and emphasized registered apprenticeships as an effective “earn while you learn” pathway.
Dyga highlighted ABC Institute, Florida’s largest apprenticeship institution, and its nearly 1,000 apprentices as an example of scalable workforce training. He argued that closing workforce gaps requires flexible approaches, including craft training, rapid upskilling and targeted project instruction.
