Advocating for Commercial Construction Contractors

Throughout Fort Lauderdale, Fort Pierce, Melbourne, Miami, West Palm Beach, FL & the Surrounding Areas

Commercial construction contractors operate in an industry shaped by workforce demands, safety requirements, changing regulations, competition, and economic conditions. At ABC Florida East Coast Chapter, we provide a unified voice for contractors and other construction businesses throughout Fort Lauderdale, Fort Pierce, Melbourne, Miami, West Palm Beach, and the surrounding areas. Our organization works to strengthen the commercial construction industry while giving members access to resources that can help them operate safely, ethically, and profitably.

As part of Associated Builders and Contractors, we bring commercial construction companies together around the Merit Shop philosophy, which supports open competition and awarding contracts based on merit regardless of labor affiliation. By representing the interests of contractors and helping members stay connected to issues affecting their businesses, our company serves as an advocate for the people and companies building communities throughout Eastern and Southern Florida.

A Voice for Commercial Construction Contractors

Decisions made by local, state, and federal governments can have a direct effect on commercial construction contractors. Labor requirements, workforce policies, safety regulations, public contracting rules, permitting issues, and other legislation can influence how companies compete for projects and manage their day-to-day operations. ABC Florida East Coast Chapter works to represent the interests of merit-based contractors and promote policies that support a competitive commercial construction industry.

Our advocacy efforts also give members opportunities to stay informed about legislation and regulatory developments affecting construction businesses. We maintain dedicated legislative and political affairs resources, while the Chapter and ABC National engage on construction-related issues in Tallahassee and Washington, D.C. By keeping contractors connected to developments that may affect their companies, we help members better understand the changing business and regulatory environment.

Helping Contractors Develop a Stronger Workforce

Finding and developing skilled workers remains an important part of operating a commercial construction company. We’re proud to support workforce development through educational opportunities, apprenticeship programs, professional development, and craft training. Through ABC Institute and other Chapter resources, participating companies can provide employees with opportunities to build skills that can be applied throughout their careers. Access to training and workforce resources can help contractors develop employees while preparing their businesses for changing industry needs.

Promoting Construction Safety and Professional Development

Commercial construction contractors have an ongoing responsibility to maintain safe job sites and keep employees informed about workplace requirements. At ABC Florida East Coast Chapter, we provide construction safety training, consulting, educational programs, and resources designed to help member companies better understand safety standards and develop safer workplace practices. The Chapter also offers access to programs such as the Safety Training Evaluation Process, or STEP.

Professional development extends beyond jobsite safety. Contractors, managers, supervisors, and other employees can benefit from continuing education and leadership development as their responsibilities grow. By connecting members with training and industry information, we help commercial construction companies invest in the people responsible for estimating, managing, supervising, and completing their projects.

Connecting Florida's Commercial Construction Community

Relationships are an important part of the commercial construction industry. General contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, developers, and other construction professionals regularly depend on one another to pursue opportunities and complete projects. Our company provides networking and business development opportunities that bring these professionals together and encourage greater communication throughout the industry.

These connections extend across a broad portion of Florida's East Coast. We support members in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, the Treasure Coast, the Space Coast, and the surrounding communities, including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Fort Pierce, and Melbourne. Bringing companies from these markets together provides opportunities to exchange ideas, build professional relationships, learn about industry developments, and become more involved in Florida's commercial construction community.

Resources for Commercial Construction Business Development

Advocacy is one part of the support ABC Florida East Coast Chapter provides to commercial construction contractors. Membership also connects companies with business development opportunities, industry education, safety resources, networking, professional development, industry updates, and other tools intended to support their operations.

Because membership is offered at the company level, employees throughout a member organization can participate in applicable Chapter opportunities and events.
