Non-Union Workforce map 2024
The U.S. construction workforce remains overwhelmingly nonunion, with the latest analysis revealing that in 41 states, at least 80% of private construction workers were not part of a union in 2024. In 29 states, more than 90% of workers chose a nonunion path, underscoring the continued preference for fair and open competition. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, a record-high 89.7% of the national construction workforce was nonunion in 2024, a trend that has steadily increased over the past four years.
Florida exemplifies this trend. In 2024, 98.4% of construction workers in the state were nonunion, continuing a five-year pattern where nonunion rates consistently exceeded 96%. These numbers reinforce the strength of Florida’s open-shop workforce, which continues to drive economic growth and infrastructure development.
ABC-FEC remains committed to advocating for policies that support merit-based opportunities and worker choice across Florida and the nation.
