ABC Florida East Coast and ABC Institute Apprenticeship College recently participated in the NASA State Hubs launch of Space Florida’s Project ORBIT at the Center for Space Education at Kennedy Space Center. ABC-FEC Chief Operating Officer Sonny Maken spoke about apprenticeships in Florida and their critical role in developing the skilled workforce needed to support the state’s growing space industry.
“Florida’s industry is growing fast – reinforced Maken – and it can’t grow without skilled people. Someone must build the facilities, wire them, and keep them running. Apprenticeship is how you build that workforce: paid, hands-on training that produces job-ready tradespeople.”
As a sub-awardee of the Project ORBIT grant, ABC FEC and ABCI are helping strengthen the talent pipeline for Florida’s space sector.
